Animal AWARE is one of our partners in rural Guatemala. They are the largest no-kill shelter in Central America; housing around 400 homeless animals at any given moment with very limited resources.
Unfortunately, many of these animals will spend their whole lives at the shelter since adoption culture is not so prevalent in Latin America; especially for non-pure breed dogs. Although not ideal, at least these animals are safe from the cruel streets and cruel people. They are safe, fed, and offered with basic medical needs.
Some of these animals have special needs due to their horrible past on the streets.
You can help by sponsoring one of them. You simply subscribe to an automatic monthly donation of $10 per animal (PayPal account required).
Then, every 4-6 weeks you will receive an email update with photos of your sponsored animal.
